Profile
In the present globalised world, the relevance of the study of Economics has increased manifold. Modern day study of Economics has permeated all the knowledge based disciplines and has become an integral part of them. Economics graduates become eligible to be engaged in diverse fields such as investment banking, financial services, business and public sector, management. teaching and the media. The nurturing environment of the Department of Economics allows its students to explore their talents in several creative fields along with academics. Students enjoy studying Economics in NGC because it allows them to encompass and develop analytical and evaluative skills. The Economic Forum of NGC provides a platfom1 for teachers, students and the larger society to discuss relevant and pertinent economic issues. Field trips are regularly organized for the students.

PROGRAMME SPECIFIC OUTCOME OF FYUGP
• To create a base of knowledge in different branches of economics so that learners can identify key questions, fundamental concepts, and theoretical frameworks necessary to an understanding of economic theory.
• To provide inputs in learners for higher studies in economics and its allied subjects.
• To prepare students for different professions that they can choose as career after completion of the programme.
• To enable learners to analyze the working of an economy with help of the understanding of different courses of economics.
• To solve complex problems by demonstrating a mastery of substantive knowledge in the discipline’s main field.
