Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP)

The Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP), launched by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), is a four-year undergraduate initiative that combines a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) with either a Bachelor of Arts (B.A) or Bachelor of Science (B.Sc). It aims to reform teacher education in India by integrating academic and professional training in a streamlined, holistic manner.
ITEP emphasizes both theoretical learning and practical experience through internships and fieldwork, ensuring that aspiring teachers are well-prepared to meet modern educational demands. The program promotes a student-centered approach, encouraging creativity, critical thinking, and inclusive teaching practices.
Nowgong Girls’ College, Nagaon, will introduce ITEP from the academic year 2025–26. The students who opt for teaching as their career after completing secondary education will be eligible to take the four years ITEP course. This program offers students the opportunity to complete a dual degree (B.A. B.Ed or B.Sc. B.Ed) in four years instead of the traditional five, making them eligible for a teaching career more efficiently. Admission to ITEP will be conducted through the National Common Entrance Test (NCET) 2025, managed by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The entire application process is online, including registration, form submission, document upload, and fee payment, with no requirement for physical submissions. ITEP is a significant step toward improving the quality and accessibility of teacher education in India.
